NCAA Core Courses

The NCAA and the Eligibility Centre have established specific high school courses that prospective student-athletes must have completed. These are referred to as NCAA core courses.

In Grades 9 & 10 core courses come from the academic level. Applied level courses will NOT count toward core course requirements.
In Gr. 11 & 12 core courses come from "M" level or "U" level.

Division I- for 2016 grads and after Division II– for 2018 grads and after

10 of the 16 core courses must be completed before the start of Gr. 12. 7 of these 10 courses must come from English, Math and Science.  
Must complete the 16 core courses in 4 consecutive years. **exception - can acquire one core course in a 5th year and remain eligible. Must still graduate from high school on schedule(4 years). No time restriction on completing the 16 core courses.
Must earn a minimum average of 2.3 GPA in the core courses. Must earn a minimum average of 2.2 GPA in the core courses.
